A drug dealer who tried to swallow a huge stash of cocaine when he was stopped by officers as he stepped off a bus has been jailed for six years.
Stafford Crown Court heard Demitre Delahaye, aged 28, was detained by officers after leaving a bus in Cannock town centre on Thursday, July 25.
Delahaye, of Shropshire Way in West Bromwich, was caught attempting and failing to swallow a large packet of drugs.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years and nine months in jail for three counts of possession with intent to supply cocaine and one count of possession of intent to supply cannabis, a spokesman for the police confirmed.
After the hearing, Sgt Lee Hardy, of Staffordshire Police, said: “We are very pleased with the sentence handed down and to see another person concerned in the supply of drugs jailed and taken off of the streets.”
