Man airlifted to hospital after two seriously hurt in A5 crash

A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and two other men were hospitalised after a two-car smash closed off a major road.
The A5 eastbound, near Cannock and Norton Canes, was shut as serious crash scene investigators from Staffordshire Police scoured the area at around 2.30pm.
Three men were later taken to hospital, two of them with serious injuries. One of the injured was taken to hospital via the air ambulance, a spokesman for the ambulance service said.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.34pm to reports of an RTC involving two cars at the A5 junction with Norton Lane.
“Three ambulances attended as a well as the Midlands Air ambulance.
“We have conveyed three patients to hospital, one man was airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital with serious injuries.
“A second man was taken via land ambulance to New Cross Hospital with serious injuries and another man was taken to a Walsall Manor Hospital as a precaution.”
