Man arrested as street sealed off in Shrublands Avenue guns and grenade alert

A man has been arrested after weapons including a grenade were seized from a home in Oldbury.
The 52-year-old was detained by officers after an intelligence-led raid in Shrublands Avenue on Tuesday, August 13.
An Army bomb squad was called to the scene after the explosive device was found at an address in the street at around 1.30pm.
The raid was not being treated a terror related, a police spokesman said.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday, 13 August, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service executed an arrest enquiry for firearms offences at a residential address in Shrublands Avenue, Warley.
“Specialist officers also attended after what was believed to be a grenade was located in the house. A number of other firearms weapons were seized.
“A 52-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
“Road closures and cordons are in place.
“This is not being treated as terror-related.”
