A Tamworth man who carried a rock in a sock as an improvised weapon has been jailed at Stafford Crown Court.
Dale MacCall, 34, of Chaucer Close, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court yesterday (June 17).
MacCall pleaded guilty to possessing a serrated blade on 6 March in Spinning School Lane, Tamworth. He also pleaded guilty to carrying a rock in a sock at Cannock railway station on February 8.
He was remanded in custody following the 6 March offence.
Sergeant Gary Harborow, of Tamworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We will not tolerate the carrying of offensive weapons or bladed articles on our streets.
“There is no excuse for carrying weapons such as these, which are clearly used to either intimidate, threaten or cause violence.”
