Seven teens arrested after train driver 'attacked' in rampage through Rugeley

Seven teenage boys have been detained by police after reports a train driver was attacked during a rampage in a Midland town.

Officers from Staffordshire Police rushed to Rugeley railway station in Sandy Lane just before 7pm following reports of an assault on Thursday, December 5.

A second incident broke out shortly after, a spokesman for the force said.

A 16-year-old, 18-year-old and two 17-year-olds, from Walsall, along with two 16-year-olds, from Cannock, and a 16-year-old, from Brownhills, were all taken into custody.

They all remained in custody today, Friday, December 6, the spokesman added.

Patrols were stepped up in the surrounding area in a bid to reassure members of the public.

Deputy Chief Inspector of Cannock Chase Neighbourhood Policing Team, Mark Burslem, said: “We are aware there are reports of disorder in the area and people are understandably concerned.

“We would like to reassure members of the public that we will be increasing patrols and this sort of behaviour is taken very seriously and will not be tolerated.”
