Officers have launched an investigation into a “suspicious” fire after six people were evacuated from a shared house in Cannock.
Emergency crews sprang into action following a 999 call to the Cannock Road blaze at around 11pm on Saturday, January 25.
A section of the road outside the home remained cordoned off as investigations got under way.
But a spokesman for Staffordshire Police today, Monday January 27, confirmed the blaze was being treated as suspicious.
They said: “Officers were called alongside colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to the property in Cannock Road just after 11pm on 25 January.
“The fire – which is being treated as suspicious by investigators – is believed to have started in the garage.
“Those inside managed to escape and no one was hurt.”
Fire crews from Cannock and Rugeley first arrived at the two-storey house and were joined by a pump from Chase Terrace.
The blaze was under control by 11.30pm and out before midnight, a spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 737 of January 25, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
