Sledgehammer-wielding thugs storm Co-op store near Cannock

A trio of sledgehammer-wielding thugs targeted a supermarket in a late night raid.

The men stormed the Co-operative store in Brownhills Road, Norton Canes, and smashed the counter with their weapon.

A huge haul of cash and vape cigarettes was stolen in the raid on Saturday, November 30 – around 1.15am.

Staffordshire police believe the men escaped the scene with the help of a fourth offender in a dark-coloured getaway car.

The force is appealing for witnesses to come forward with information to add the investigation.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a break-in where a cash till and cigarettes were stolen by men brandishing a sledgehammer.

“The incident took place at around 1.15am on Saturday (November 30).

“Three men broke into the Co-op store in Brownhills Road, Norton Canes , near Cannock.

“A cash till containing a large quantity of cash and vape cigarettes were taken after a counter was smashed with the hammer.

“The men are believed to have made their escape in a dark-coloured car driven by a fourth man.”
