Mel C has been forced to cancel her performance at a Pride event hours before she was due to take to the stage.
The Spice Girl was due to perform at Hull Pride today as part of the city’s celebrations but she had to pull out after being taken ill, reports Hull Live .
Known as ‘Sporty Spice’ she was set to take to the stage alongside legendary club collective Sink the Pink, Claire Richards from Steps and Honeyz but revealed on Twitter that she’s got a throat infection.
She wrote: “I’m gutted to have to cancel my show at Hull Pride today. Over the last few months I’ve been working incredibly hard and now I’ve picked up a throat infection.
“I hate to let you down but I’ll update you later when I’ve seen a doctor. I hope I’ll be up to Hull soon. All my love.”
The singer has recently been on a massive UK-wide tour with the Spice Girls and put it down to working so hard over the last few months.
The official Pride in Hull Twitter accounted posted: “Really disappointed to announce that Melanie C is unable to perform at Pride in Hull today. We still have an amazing day lined up for you and can’t wait to see you all later today.”
Melanie isn’t the only one to come off the tour with a bad throat – Jess Glynn has cancelled a number of shows over the last month on the advice of her throat surgeon.
She was due to sing at a number of Forest Live concerts in July, one of which was in Cannock Chase Forest.
The singer admitted that she’d been partying with the girl band following the end of their UK tour together but said that on the advice of her doctor she’d got to take a break and rest her voice completely for 10 days if she wanted to remain as a performer.
