This week in court: Sadistic teenagers, maniac van driver and baby-faced killer – along with other criminals

Three teenagers have been jailed for holding a schoolboy captive for six hours and torturing him – for simply knocking over a drink.

A 21-year-old has been jailed after his dangerous driving left a woman with life-changing injuries.

A callous hit and run driver has been jailed for 18 months after fatally injuring a mum-of-three on the busy Stratford Road.

And the 17-year-old who stabbed Hazrat Umar to death.

This is a round-up of some of the biggest cases dealt with across the region as we name and shame a number of those up in court this week.

Peter Thorley

A pervert council markets manager has been JAILED after sending a sexual video to a schoolgirl.

Peter Thorley – who worked for Stoke-on-Trent City Council – has been caged after being convicted in the Midlands this week.

The shamed markets supervisor, 46, became close to his young victim and started to groom her.

The 46-year-old gave her gift vouchers and they became friends on social media before he sent her two short sexual videos.

Now Thorley – who also worked as a supervisor at Stoke City – has been jailed for 18 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, StokeonTrentLive reports.

A carer has been jailed after she was caught ill treating a 101 year old woman in her own home in Birmingham.

Ashikiah Reid was secretly captured on CCTV being rough with the victim, who suffered from dementia and diabetes and who could be heard crying out in pain.

Reid, 36, of Oval Road, Erdington, who had previously admitted two charges of a carer ill treating an individual, was sentenced to eight months.

There was a regime of paid care for the centenarian which involved two carers coming in at 9am who washed and dressed her and prepared her for the day.

Irfan Mohammed

This is the shocking moment a maniac van driver rammed police cars during a pursuit which left five officers injured.

A police dashboard camera captured Irfan Mohammed reversing into a patrol car during a dramatic chase, in which two other patrol vehicles were damaged.

In the video which can be viewed at the top of the article, the crazed driver can be seen driving off before the footage ends with a police car colliding with his van.

Mohammed, 30, caused £60,000 of damage to three police cars with the three and half-tonne Mercedes Luton van.

At Worcester Crown Court, Mohammed admitted dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, possession of cannabis and driving without insurance following the chase on May 18 this year. He was jailed for 22 months and banned from driving for five years.

This is the speeding hit-and-run driver who left a mum dying on one Birmingham’s busiest roads.

Mohammed Shameel , 34, mowed down mother-of-three Nooreen Akhtar on Stratford Road, Sparkhill , during Eid.

She was walking to her parked car – which had her young children inside – when she was fatally struck.

The 38-year-old suffered a serious brain injury in the crash on June 16 last year and died less than a day later.

She was thrown “forcibly some distance”, but Shameel fled the scene and later lied to cover his tracks.

Donna Roe

A school’s business manager stole thousands of pounds of funds and charity cash raised by pupils.

She resorted to dishonesty after secretly amassing credit card debts and loans, a court was told.

The Midlands woman stole nearly £16,000 from work, and falsified the accounts to cover her tracks.

Donna Roe helped herself to funds from the safe at Church Hill C of E Junior School, in Thurmaston, Leicestershire.

She pleaded guilty to theft of £15,799 which a judge has ordered her to repay, according to LeicestershireLive.

Roe was given a 12 month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

Three teenagers have been jailed for holding a schoolboy captive for six hours and torturing him – for simply knocking over a drink.

The 15-year-old was slashed with a knife, had lit cigarettes stubbed out on his face, was attacked with a curtain pole and had his genitals burned with a lighter.

He suffered serious injuries including cuts and a badly broken nose during the sustained assault, in the early hours of September 29 last year.

Kyle Ashton led the attack at his flat in New Moseley Road, Highgate , after flying into a rage that his teenage visitor had spilled a drink on the floor.

Dale MacCall

A Tamworth man who carried a rock in a sock as an improvised weapon has been jailed at Stafford Crown Court. 

Dale MacCall, 34, of Chaucer Close, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court yesterday (June 17). 

MacCall pleaded guilty to possessing a serrated blade on 6 March in Spinning School Lane, Tamworth. He also pleaded guilty to carrying a rock in a sock at Cannock railway station on February 8.

He was remanded in custody following the 6 March offence.

Adeel Khalid

A 21-year-old has been jailed after his dangerous driving left a woman with life-changing injuries.

Student Adeel Khalid was driving at 71mph on the A34 in the Midlands the horror unfolded.

He was driving in Newcastle half a second before his Vauxhall Astra hit the side of a woman’s Vauxhall Corsa.

The crash came as she came out of Victoria Street and attempted to turn right.

Now Khalid, who was on course to graduate with a First class degree in psychology, has been jailed for  two years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

A delivery driver who left a cyclist dying in a hit-and-run crash has been jailed.

Dominick Dabrowski crashed into a parked car and ran a red light as he left the scene, leaving Kibreab Tewelderhan fatally injured.

Birmingham Crown Court heard the 31-year-old’s Volkswagen van “swerved” into the blameless victim, knocking him off his bike.

He fled with dialling 999, leaving the “loving husband and brothers” family bereft, and was only traced after a major police investigation .

he crash happened in Lewisham Road, Smethwick , in the early hours of October 30 last year.

Dabrowski, 31, of Bernard Street, West Bromwich , was jailed for 20 months and banned from driving for three years and eight months.

This is the first picture of baby-faced killer Adam Muhammad, who stabbed Hazrat Umar to death.

The 17-year-old attacked his victim with a Rambo-style knife as he walked along Norwood Road, Bordesley Green, on the afternoon of February 25.

Muhammad, of Hawksyard Road, was jailed for a minimum of 14 years and three months at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, following a four day trial. 

He was named and pictured for the first time today following a plea by BirminghamLive to lift his anonymity.

Tony Mitchell

A carjack thug who battered, threatened and stabbed drivers in a violent crime spree has been caged.

Tony Mitchell launched a vicious reign of terror in a bid to steal six cars different cars from shaken motorists in Yardley.

The 34-year-old stabbed one driver with his own keys, battered another and threatened to jab a third with a needle.

He callously targeted four cars in a single hour on April 9 – and a further two just five days later.
